Sentry catches errors in your app and shows where they happened, so you find out before a customer writes in. It suits a solo founder who ships a web or mobile product. If you run only a static site, you do not need it.

On the maker's pricing page, the free Developer plan is for one user and lists 5,000 errors, 5 million tracing spans, 50 session replays, 5 GB of logs and one cron monitor a month. Team is listed at US$26 a month with unlimited users and 50,000 errors, and Business at US$80. Our price above is converted to Australian dollars, so confirm it at checkout.

• Developer: enough for one person on an early product.
• Team: when your error volume passes the free quota or you add collaborators.

• Create a project for your app and add the SDK for your framework.
• Deploy, then trigger a test error to see it appear.
• Set an alert so new errors email you, and ignore known noise.
• Upload source maps so you see the real line of code.

Paid plans are priced by event volume, so a bug that fires thousands of times can use up your quota quickly. Set rate limits and filter out errors you cannot act on.

Rollbar and Bugsnag are similar. PostHog shows what users do rather than what broke. Many hosting tools have basic logs that may be enough at the start.
