Transistor

Transistor hosts your podcast audio, sends it to Apple Podcasts, Spotify and other apps, and gives you a website and download stats. It suits a solo podcaster who wants simple, reliable hosting, or who runs more than one show. If you only want to test an idea, a free host may do for a while.

On the maker's pricing page, Starter is listed at US$19 a month with 20,000 monthly downloads, Professional at US$49 with 100,000, and Business at US$99 with 250,000. All list unlimited shows, unlimited team members, advanced analytics and a 14-day free trial. Private podcast subscriber limits are 50, 500 and 3,000. There is no permanent free plan. Our price above is converted to Australian dollars, so confirm it at checkout.

• Starter: enough for most new shows.
• Move up when your downloads in a month pass the plan limit.

• Start the trial and create a show with artwork and a clear description.
• Upload your first three episodes, with titles and show notes.
• Submit the RSS feed to Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
• Add the player to your website and check your first week of stats.

There is no permanent free plan. Plans are set by monthly downloads, so a hit episode can push you up a tier. Keep copies of your original audio files outside the host.

Buzzsprout, Captivate and Spotify for Creators are the main options. Record guests with Riverside and edit with Descript before you upload.

Transistor hosts the show in the Solo Podcast stack.
